PTE Test Structure:

  • Reading : The Reading section of the PTE test is an important part of the exam which majorly tests your knowledge of academic collocations and grammar. There are 5 tasks in total: Reading and Writing Blanks (you don’t need to write anything, but you get marks in both the modules as the name suggests), Multiple Choice, Choose Multiple Answers Re-Order Paragraphs (this task will tests your analytical skills), Reading Blanks Multiple Choice, Choose Single Answer.
  • Writing : The Writing component in PTE includes a hold on spelling, grammar, vocabulary and sentence structure. There are 2 tasks : Summarize Written Text and Write Essay. In both these tasks, you need to display your Writing skills and also your Reading skills in Task [1]. Total questions asked are generally 3 or 4 and the total time spent would be between 40 to 60 minutes (depending on the total number of questions asked). Task [2]
  • Listening : The listening section of the PTE exam assesses your ability to listen and understand spoken English, as well as your ability to follow directions. The questions are designed to measure how well you can understand spoken English and respond appropriately in a variety of real-life situations. There are 8 tasks which include a lot of integrated tasks [just like the other PTE modules – which you would have surely realized by now].
  • Speaking : The PTE Speaking test tests your ability to communicate fluently in English, as well as your pronunciation. The Speaking part assesses the language skills of non-native speakers and evaluates their proficiency in 5 different tasks – Read Aloud, Repeat Sentence, Describe Image, Retell Lecture, and Answer Short Questions. The Speaking test has around 35-40 questions and goes on for about 20-22 minutes.
  • In Part 2 of speaking you will be asked to talk about specific topic. There will be Cue card round also.
  • Part 3 consists of questions which are based on part 1 & 2.
