Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a test that measures English language proficiency of students and workers planning to apply for visas to study or work in a country where English is the language of communication. Expressing an opinion on a familiar topic; speaking based on reading and listening tasks.

10 minutes BREAK


Duration - 17 minutes

Questions: 4 tasks

Writing essay responses based on reading and listening tasks; supporting an opinion in writing.


Duration - 50 minutes

Questions: 2 tasks

Candidates need to write essay responses based on reading and listening tasks, along with supporting the opinion in writing.

Total duration = About 3 hours

TOEFL Test Structure:

  • Reading : (60–80 minutes) Measures the ability to understand reading passages like those in college textbooks
  • Listening : (60–90 minutes) Measures the ability to understand main ideas, important details, implications, relationships between ideas, organization of information, and speaker’s purpose, and attitude
  • Speaking : (20 minutes) Measures the ability to speak spontaneously and convey ideas clearly and coherently
  • Writing : (50 minutes) Measures the ability to write in an academic setting
